New Cartoons from The Economist
Here’s some of my recent cartoons from The Economist.
While the US is withdrawing from global institutions that fight climate change, scientists predict that 2026 will be among the hottest years on record.
Meanwhile in the Middle East, Iran is being rocked by the worst civil uprising since its historic 1979 revolution. Anger toward the theocratic government runs deep and the protests will not be easily quelled.
The above cartoon started as a 3.5 inch pencil sketch.
Over time I started to forge the characters and experiment with visual layout.
Eventually, I perfected the pencil sketch to a point where I was happy to share it with my editors in London. Once I got the thumbs up to proceed, I embarked on my 3 hour task of inking the cartoon.

I love that you document and share the process❣️ Thank you, Kal❣️ Your art is great❣️
Wow! This is the best interpretation of a domestic self-inflicted "injury" by an old idealogue that I have seen for a long time!
